Exactly what I was looking for to migrate from Aperture
I’ve been using Aperture for years and was really disappointed to find out that Apple was no longer going to support it. I hesitated to switch to Photos because it was too dumbed down for my needs (although I’m not an Aperture power user). I already had the Nik Collection of software plugins and didn’t want to have to buy new ones for Photos compatibility (like Macphun’s collection, which seem pretty useful). This plugin works exactly as advertised and allowed me to access my Nik plugins directly within the Photos editing pane.
While this alone doesn’t replace a lot of the features I was used to in Aperture, this helps a lot. The main reason why I wanted to switch was because I started noticing software glitches in Aperture (the straighten tool would digitally smudge the photos), but it’s possibly because I’m using OS X Beta versions (10.11.4). Nevertheless, I thought that this was just an eventuality anyway…so having seen this plugin right about when I wanted to switch over was perfect timing.
I had a question for the developer and he replied right away, leading me to be able to search for answer online to remove an old .plist. Great customer support on top of an extremely useful plugin!
I’d have paid quite a bit more for this because it saved me a lot from buying new extensions for Photos. At this price, its a no-brainer for anyone who’s in a similar situation and migrating to Photos with existing plugins for other photo editing apps.
