External Editors For Photos App Reviews

OSX Photos can do a ton of cool editing and it does most of what I need. Every 10th photo, however, really needs Photoshop. This is the missing piece for quickly switching to Photoshop and then back to Photos, AND you can keep the unmodified version! THANK YOU!

This simplifies my workflow greatly. I no longer have to export an image to use NIK filters. I can now use them within Photos.

it can find Photoshop and all Macphun editors but no Lightroom…WHY? And support link is not real E-mail address…Why? But for 99cents! Please update

Thanks for a great extension. I stumbled on this after finding an article about hidden secrets in El Capitan, having no idea that there were external extensions you could get for Photos. I had been among the many who were annoyed at Apple for deleting the functionality integrated editing between Aperture and Photoshop Elements. But this is so easy and quick, and my changes are there instantly, and I no longer need to go through the hassle of exporting and reimporting. What a huge timesaver for me.

What an effin bargain. It does what it says it does and tunnels right through to the external apps. Wow. Eliminated a tremendous amount of effort. Thanks to whomever coded this little brat. Nice work. Nice price.

This app is wonderful! It adds the ability to edit photos using any external photo editor while storing and organizing them in the Mac OS Photos app. No more exporting photos, editing them, and then re-importing them into the Photos app. It works flawlessly and seamlessly in my testing, and addresses one of my biggest annoyances with Photos. Kudos to the developers for this awesome application!

This extension has saved me so much time. My one request is that PNG conversion be added.

I have been upset with Sandvox for not updating their APP to work wiht Apples Photos. Now with EXTERNAL EDITOR FOR PHOTOS I can open any photo in Photoshop or other editor, and copy and paste into Sandvox. This is a great APP and should be priced higher. I had no problems with this great APP and found it intuitive and so simple, I could hardly believe by problems have been solved.

THANK YOU!! Now that I am taking a lot of pics with my iPhone 7 Plus using the Depth/Portrait effect, they really need to be touched up in Photoshop. Now I can roundtrip and keep the metadata! Bravo!!!

This program is wizardry allowing me to use the perfectly good Adobe Photoshop CS 5 with the Mac program Photos. I used to be able to make it work with Java runtime 6, exporting a Photo onto the desktop, and then having CS 5 open and load in the photo. The edited photo would be copied back into photos, although, sometimes with the date altered. His program seemlessly opens the program into the editor of your choice. It works flawlessly (MAGICALLY)! This is a steal for under a dollar. I truely appreciate the work that Karsten Bruns has performed and his altruism for practically giving this valuable piece of software away.

lets me to use Affinity Photo instead of Affinity extensions. Works with Nik perfectly well too… Awesome!!

It’s a common complaint of Apple software, when they update software, features get left behind. Rarely some someone come along and find a way to open the door to ALL features becoming available! Karsten, I don’t know you but my photos thank you. I thank you. You. Are. Amazing! Keep up the great work!

Probably the biggest complaint I had about the new Photos app was how hard it was to edit photos. El Capitan kinda improved it a bit with the third party editors but app developers still needed to write extensions, and it isn’t easy to go into the filesystem to find the photo in the Photos Library. This app seriously makes it easy to edit my photos with full editors like Photoshop CS6. Really great work by the developer, coming from a fellow developer over here. The only improvement I would ask for is to add the little app icon next to each of the editor names, so its easier to see the app I want to click on. Not that big of a deal but would be a big help.

The app is worth far more than the $0.99 that is costs. It does what what the external editor feature in iPhoto does and more. For those with their personal favorite image editor this will save them considerable money as they won’t have to purchase some other app that does include extensions that will work with Photos. The developer was quick to respond to questions and suggestions I had. We can expect excellent support from him.

The description above indicates that I would use the Edit menu from the main Photos screen to access the extension. I have almost 600 images to edit. I need to select more than one at a time. I did not expect to have to go to Image -> Show Edit Tools -> Extensions -> External Editors and then open them one at a time. The description of the app on the developers website and in the in the App Store reads, Usage: To use it find a picture in Photos, select Edit and click the Extensions button. This is clearly not happening. I think you need to update the "instructions" to reflect what is really required to use the app. C

I no longer have to wait for other 3rd party apps to implement Photos extensions support. This is a genius idea and has worked very well for me. Thank you!

This app solved the connondrum faced by old Aperture / iPhoto users who had 3rd party applications to edit photographs. I can use any editing software such as Nik, ON1, Photoshop, etc. and all the edits will be saved in my Photos library!!! This app is just amazing and the price makes it totally worthwhile. I hope it stays around for ever!

Simple little extension that does just what it says it does. It makes it easy to edit your photos with Photoshop or your own favorite editor. I knew I could export the photo, edit it, and then re-import it into Photos, but even though not that difficult, I didn’t do it. Now, it’s easy enough that I use Photoshop to fix problems using things that are not in Photos yet like “shake reduction”. I highly recommend this.
