External Editors For Photos App Reviews

First off, it is about time. The app works as advertised and that is very good. Next, allow me to mention what I ran into. I have many editing apps on my MAC Book. EXTERNAL EDITOR FOR PHOTOS located every one of them. I have never spent the requirred money to invest in PhotoShop therefore I have Pixelmator, Affinity Photo, Affinity designer, All of MacPhun’s editing apps both in the pro addition and the more recent CK release. Along with the above listed, EEFP located and listed apps that can’t be used for image editing. (I’ve got to clean out my computer). So you may have a long list of apps to choose from. I mostly edit with Affinity Photo. The return to Photos following editing was supposed to be seamless. I ran into a problem. I couldn’t return with any editing adjustments. So, when in doubt, reboot! That did it. The app works flawlessly. My suggestion, clean out unused apps, reboot and have fun. Is the app worth $0.99? I believe Many times that.

Fantastic. Great app for what it does, which is essentially functioning as link between Apple’s new Extensions framework and any photo editor of your choice (in my case, Photoshop). BUY IT. It’s a buck. Come on. Apple, how difficult would it have been to add an iPhotos-like option to Photos to ‘Open in external editor?

Kudos to Karsten for making this app. Everyone should buy it. Finally I can easily use Photoshop to edit photos in Photos. Sounds weird I know.

This is awesome!!! OS X Photos should have worked like this from the very beginning!!! One of the best apps ever!!!

I tried it with several external applications. I rebooted as suggested in other reviews. The file is transmitted to the external editor of choice, no problem. But saving the file does not return it to Photos. Watched the screencast, but it’s more of a demo than a tutorial. The first option in the screencast, saving the file does not return it to Photos. The second option in the screencast returns a much lower resolution version to Photos. The third option of the screencast advises “dragging the image onto the extension”, but I can’t even see what he’s dropping it on. Something in the dock. But there is no “extension” in my dock. So no help there.

This app is just what I needed. Now I can easily use any photo editor with Photos…even if it hasn’t yet been updated with photos support. The app is simple and it works great. Worth way more than the $0.99 I paid for it!

Google recently made their Nik Collection of photo editing software completely free. This is a BIG deal - but using it with Photos (or any other photo management software) was tedious. This application allows me to use the Nik Collection (or any other photo editing software on my machine) with Photos. It’s a dream. It’s worth 10x more than what the developer is charging. Buy it now before they realize it! ;)

Just downloaded the APP and it seems to work GREAT! I set PS Elements as my default editor when I opened the extension, but now I’d prefer to just open in Preview for some simple annotations I’m doing on photos. I can’t figure out how to change my default?

I’ve been using this app daily now for two months with Photos. It has worked without any issues with many common stand-alone photo editing apps. It meaningfully extends the external editing options available to Photos, making it a much more versatile program. This upgrade improves the editing workflow and adds more selection options. They work as described. The NIK suite and DXO Perspective are a couple of examples that I use extensively. Results are outstanding.
